Hi Michael,

You also had a busy day and also one with a different - from sand to rocks!
Today here in Sydney it does look like storms will be around - mainly near or along the ranges - will have to check wind shear. Some briefly severe storms yesterday but I could not core punch once [...]

You sure had an adventure getting home from the chase !   Hopefully the car can be fixed for far less than early indications suggested.
Had a busy day yesterday. We all went to Ballina for a swim, taking the dog this time. Back at lunch time then had friends bring over about 2 tonnes of rocks they didn’t want [...]

So car problems? The car had to be towed on a [...]

Valley is completely full of fog this morning - check the webcam out:

It’s a good sign for a storm day. Rod is off work at 1230 today so we’ll head up to the Northern Tablelands if that still looks to be the target by then.   Hopefully we can catch up with you Saturday at some [...]

You guessed it, yesterday without notice it puched 39 to 40C! And today not much different!
Question is, will there be decent chase opportunities up north or will it be better along the trough where surface heating will be maximised? Too hot to move around extensively.
Tomorrow has also downgraded somewhat even though there is a possibility [...]

Hi Michael,
Sunny start here and anticipated to be quite hot - been a while since it hit 37C. More heat again tomorrow. But storms are likely with the heat some time during the afternoon.
Yes we shall meet perhaps Saturday. I may stay overnight somewhere further north Friday evening. I’ll see.
Jimmy

The stratocumulus persisted yesterday so no convection visible from home. An isolated severe storm developed in the hotspot between Nymboida and Glen Innes and tracked north, but didn’t last.
Nice and sunny this morning however with valley fog. Should see some isolated cells about today, more likely on the eastern ranges again. The following two days [...]

Michael,
That chase you did had interesting base features - obviously the type of storm that dropped heavy rain as you mentioned in your report. And you should be able to see some more storms in your webcam today!
We awoke to a sunny day here - surprise surprise! Though it is good to see a dark [...]

Hi Jimmy and all.  Got a storm chase in yesterday afternoon. Was quite a hot day here (35) and the southerly change managed to get things going as it progressed northwards through the region.  Some interesting activity with very large rain free bases at times. Hail/damaging wind warning was issued by the BoM. Certainly encountered the [...]
