Hi Jimmy, Took David to the regional swimming carnival in Ballina today where he was swimming in the breaststroke 10 year olds. He swam well but not sure if it was quite good enough to reach the next level of competition. He is happy if that is the case anyway
Been fine today with scattered [...]

Michael
Some more storms up the coast by the looks - not severe at this point. Warm and humid although rather pleasant for this time of the year.
The rain event did help boost the water supply I can only assume given some areas copping up to ~225mm (9 inches on the old scale).

Wow - quite impressive falls there. Had nearly 50mm here over 3 days which a nice amount, but only 140mm for the year - which is about 250mm below normal. The 3 wet days have all included weak thunderstorms developing near the coast and heading mainly west or NW.  Surprised that the upper trough has [...]

Michael,
The cloud mass is definitely situated on the north coast the last I checked this evening. You have had below average rainfall though no doubt some heavy rainfall will occur in the not too distant future based on past history alone.
Showers cleared hear and we ended up with 60.4mm of rain in the past 24 [...]

Another 27mm overnight which has put the tanks up to 7/8th full. Most of the heavy falls have been missing here. Over 100mm at Ballina overnight. More thunder a short while ago with a cell passing east to west about 10ks to my north.  There’s a lot of precipitation in the Brisbane area and the [...]

Michael,
Yes the lack of pictures from those who claim classic supercell is frustrating but what is new about all the claims. The storm was high based to say the least, outflow dominant and also you could see through the preipitation in the photographs. We’ll see what eventuates in the analyses. I am awaiting radar from [...]

Hi Jimmy - only 10.6mm here so far though that is certainly welcome. Lots of showers with embedded storms coming in from the NE though they are not getting inland with much rain.
Had a great day on the Saturday hailstorm chase despite the car problems. Got it ‘fixed again’ this morning and I managed to get [...]

Michael,
Awoke to some more rain but even then the total of rainfall until this morning is 17.6mm a far cry from some of the deluges that have occurred elsewhere. Perhaps more rain today - cumulonimbus moving in from the east!
The cell Rodney chased was definitely multicellular but then did a merger on radar. I am [...]

Hi Jimmy - yes time has gone, I met you the year after Katrina was born - btw - the weekend she was born was the last proper flood in Sydney I think. We had a nice meal out last night. Her best friend came along and the grandparents were their too.
 Still soaking up all [...]

Michael,
Pass my happy birthday wishes to Katrina - goodness 15 years of age. I knew her as a todler - we must be getting old:)
Yes the Lithgow cell was a beauty. Love that lightning shot as well -  it shows erratic behaviour. You have certainly used the camera wisely with regards to the amount lightning [...]
