Michael,
I saw the pictures and yes that certainly does make the trip worthwhile given you observed snow on the ground and falling at the time - a daytime event. And to think I have not even bothered to venture up to the Oberon area to observe any of the snow that has fallen this season:) Some [...]

Hi Jimmy and all reading this - yes, managed to sneak in a terrific solo snow chase to Ben Lomond on the Northern Tablelands. AT least 3cm snow on the ground with snow falling the whole 1.5 hours I was in that area. More details in the forum thread: http://www.australiasevereweather.com/forum/index.php?topic=462.0
Was a good test for my [...]

Yes there definitely has been a fair bit of snow and even this morning  - snow is persisting in the Oberon vicinity. Speaking to Nick Moir this morning, he waoke to snow on the ground at Oberson and also suggests that snow lay on higher peaks of the region near Hartley and obviously it was snowing [...]

Hi Jimmy, Have managed to receive 50mm on rain since Saturday and yesterday I saw the first run-off in ages. Ridiculous for this area, especially given how much rain has and is falling in other parts of the state.
The latest east coast low continues to provide interesting weather over the southeast. Meanwhile, I’m checking everything [...]

Michael,
We had a cool day here with some light rain surprisingly. And it looks like Tuesday and Wednesday is going to get interesting with another strong east coast low. This seems a little warmer than previous ones so less cold air though I can tell you the lapse rates suggest good upmotion so thunderstorms are [...]

Had quite a cold day here Saturday with a maximum of 11.7 though the temp was only about 10 for 90% of the day. Some light rain all day gave us a total of 15mm - very welcome but still need a proper rainfall event here to top of the water tanks and dams.   Today [...]

Michael,
Yes apparently there is a vast inconsistency with the models as to the coming event. Hopefully follow up rains can occur for those regions not receiving sufficient rainfall.
In regards to the video stills of the tornado below, it opened my eyes as to how different the stills can be and makes me wonder whether I [...]

Hi Jimmy - Nice work extracting all the stills for the Greensburg event - a very big job. It’s slow enough work getting stills but given the system was at night - wow!
Been good to see more widespread snow along the Central Tablelands and Northern Tablelands again so soon after the first event. I see [...]

Michael,
And yet another system is in place to provide a dumping. After some snow, an east coast low can evolve by Wednesday morning. I don’t want it to occur as I would rather extended rain events rather than one day wonders.
On another note, I am quite elated that I was able to finally salvage an [...]

Hi Jimmy, Yes the central part of the NSW coast is the place to be for rain this month. I note Katoomba is up to or close to 1000mm for the year. Meanwhile up here where we are supposed to have had more than that by this time of year and I’m currently on 20mm for [...]
