Michael,
The US tornado season in my opinion from a storm chaser’s perspective is below average but the last several days has highlighted the season. It is unusual to get significant events on more than two successive days but it did happen in this period. The number of tornadoes is also reasonably high for late May [...]

Hi Jimmy,
The unsettled weather continues with some offshore storms this morning along the Sydney coast. GFS suggests a couple of days of storms with a another upper trough over NSW. This one is forecast to be fairly slow moving so storms should be around until Thursday at least. There are hints a surface low may [...]

Michael,
Thanks for the kind comments and thoughts. The countdown is on - I am having to get things prepared such as schooling for Kimberly. Imelda was already studying the licence in the Philippines and is doing a computer technician course but this course seems like an introductory course. Nevertheless, it will provide some skills and [...]

Hi Jimmy - that is terrific news !   Only a few more weeks to wait and you can all be together - about time :)
The weekend weather system proved very interesting for this part of the country with some severe thunderstorms across NE NSW and SE QLD Saturday. The storm activity persisted from early afternoon [...]

Well Michael,
It’s now just over 24 hours since I heard from the great news Imelda and Kimberly are finally heading out to Australia. I am still in disbelief - it seemed like an eternity but such news is long awaited. We both did not sleep very well out of pure excitement and all the thoughts [...]

Hi Michael,
The snow you got on the Northern Tablelands was brilliant and not bad for mid-May. Quite a cold push I should imagine. I was surprised nothing much eventuated on the Central Tablelands - glad I didn’t go. Looks like GFS got it correct! Anyway, there is a frost here this morning - particularly in [...]

Hi Jimmy,
Fully understand regarding the chasing situation and making sure Imelda and Kimberley are settled. Quite a lot to organise and it will take some time for them to get used to Australia. Hopefully it will be very soon they can be with you !
David turned 11 yesterday (16th). He got a Nintendo DS that [...]

For the first time this season, I followed for a little while some of the radar of the supercells hammering the states of Oklahoma and Arkansas. Unfortunately quite a few fatalities with one long tracked tornado at one stage a wedge hitting northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
As to me chasing 2009, it depends a lot on my situation [...]

Hi Jimmy - yeah - have to watch the US action remotely this year - as I do each season - hopefully I’ll get over there next year and you’ll be able to as well :)
Bit of offshore thunderstorm action is back and may persist this week going by the LI maps. Probably end up [...]

Michael,
Nothing much happening here on the weather front - my first May for 8 years in this country and gosh is it rather boring! Not even the fogs are very impressive this year! Oh well, the intention now is to bring Imelda and Kimberly here and take them to a snow chase. They have never [...]
